IIT Bombay Connects 13 Villages using TVWS

Students from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay have created a mesh-network that connects 13 rural locations using TVWS. The UHF nodes used to provide connectivity operate in the 470-590 MHz range and achieve an average speed of 5-8 Mbps. For more information, please read their paper or the accompanying article.

Microsoft CEO Skypes over White Space

The TV White Space project by Microsoft Research has been carrying out pilots to connect rural communities in Africa and India to the internet.
