InterDigital Develops Dynamic Spectrum Management System for TV White Space

InterDigital has developed several dynamic spectrum management (DSM) systems to fully harness the shared 500-700 MHz spectrum. DSM is a combination of radio frequency sensing and geo-location database-coordinated access (in cooperation with Spectrum Bridge, Inc.), utilising radio resource management and wireless access extensions to implement technology capable of operating with TV white spaces, for example.

Since TV white spaces are expected to rarely appear side by side, DSM is capable of aggregating up to four separate channels for a combined total throughput of up to 40 Mbit/s. If a channel becomes unavailable, DSM can rescan and find a replacement vacant channel.
