Microsoft Applies to FCC for Rural Broadband Tests

Microsoft has filed application for special temporary authority (STA) from the FCC to test sensors in the white space VHF and UHF bands to “determine their suitability for precision agriculture applications”.
If approved, tests would start in July and run until January 2017. Four experimental units, produced by Microsoft, will be tested at various sites in the US. No other details have been released.
